Warriors International Fellowship is a nondenominational church, subscribing to the Reformed Pentecostal theological position. “Reformed” because all its beliefs and doctrinal positions are taken directly from the scriptures and its certitude that the scriptures are the infallible word of God. “Pentecostal” because we have experienced the infilling of the Holy Spirit as it is recorded in Acts 2:4. Warriors International Fellowship is a full gospel church with a powerful pulpit. It is a church flowing in worship and praise and in the manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

The church was founded on April 4, 1998 by Dr. Derrick E. Houston, Sr. the first service was held in a store front building with 100 people.  The building was located at 1565 Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama.  We out grew this building in less than a year and proceeded to purchase a church building at 2700 avenue S Ensley.  Since 1998, the membership has grown from 100 members to over 1,500. We believe that God has ordained this church to be a Meta church, leading thousands of people to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ; nurturing and developing our children and young people in the scriptures, and leading them to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, so that they will become models of the abundant life, described in the scriptures. The members are inspired and spiritually equipped for battle weekly by Dr. Houston. The church brings together the down and out and the homeless, they worship and serve together in one of our 20 different ministries within the church, including character building and life skills programs, AIDS outreach, homeless outreach, men and women mentor programs and a fast growing prison ministry throughout the state.

Our Mission

Warriors International Fellowship and Derrick E. Houston Ministries seek to reach the un-churched with the good news of Jesus Christ; to equip them with a faith that works in real life; building a spiritual legacy of encouragement and hope; to send them out to serve the world in the name of Christ.

Mission Statement 

God has called us, during these tumultuous times, to turn wimps into warriors; chumps into champs; the scared into soldiers; hermits into heroes; the frightened into fighters; and the worried into WARRIORS OF THE WORD.

We, the congregation of Warriors International Fellowship Inc, do hereby accept the responsibility to help the hurting, deliver the distressed, and mature the sheep. We are determined to win the World for the Lord Jesus Christ (Evangelism); Secure the sheep (discipleship), and stabilize the saints (mature the believers).

We will organize a local church dedicated to honoring the Lord Jesus Christ through Worship, Word, and Witness.

We will encourage individuals to develop themselves into the full measure of the stature of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to discover and fulfill their God given destiny on this earth.

We will strengthen families and homes by encouraging family relationships, household industry, and Godly heritage.

 

Our Commitment

Encouraging a remnant of soldiers, young and old, prepared and deeply rooted in the doctrine of Jesus Christ, ready to fight and “withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand” (Eph. 6:13). 

We battle by prayerfully interceding for others, by studying and applying The Word of God to our lives, and by claiming the blessed name of Jesus Christ, by which all authority has been given unto us – the only name under Heaven by which man can be saved.

Belief Statement

The Bible, the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired Word of God without error in the original writings, and are the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for all Christian faith and life.

God
There is one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in three manifestations: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is true God and true man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross, the complete and final sacrifice for our sins according to the Scriptures. Further, He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where, at the right hand of the Majesty on High, He is now our High Priest and Advocate.

The Holy Spirit
The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and during this age, to convict men of sin, regenerate the believing sinner, indwell, guide, instruct, and empower the believer for godly living and service. Man - Man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is therefore lost, and only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit can salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

Salvation
The shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection provide the only ground for justification and salvation for all who believe, and only such as receive Jesus Christ by faith are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become children of God. The Return of Jesus Christ - The personal, pre-millennial, and imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ is our hope and has a vital bearing on the personal life and service of the believer.

Future Events
There will be a bodily resurrection of all the dead; of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and of the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting conscious punishment.

The Church
The true Church is composed of all such persons, who through saving faith in Jesus Christ, has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and is united together in the body of Christ of which He is the head.

Baptism and Communion
Water baptism by immersion soon after accepting Christ as personal Savior is a testimony of death to sin and resurrection to a new life. The Lord's Supper is a memorial service setting forth in sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ; all true believers and only believers should share in it.
